The training

This is a Yoga Alliance 200hrs (internationally recognised) qualification.

Learn strong, efficient postures with careful and intuitive alignment – the perfect balance of strength, flexibility and breath.  See how the body works when we practice – the systems it effects, the muscles we use and how we use them.  Understand common complaints such as back and knee issues and how yoga can help.

Learn breathing practices, meditation and the rich philosophy and tradition behind yoga.

Many people do teacher training not to go on to teach but to take the practice they love and really bring it on.

If you do want to teach, we will guide you to be truly ready – to help you to be able to see how you can guide your students to achieve their differing goals. To find your own niche as a teacher and to be successful at what you choose.

The courses are nine weekends long (one weekend each month), please see below for upcoming course dates. Our weekends in Cheltenham.  Spaces will be limited to keep a nice small group.

If you’d like to know more, or like the idea but are not sure if you’re ready, please email us - davisian@me.com

Reading

There are so many good yoga books, but the choice of the best of them is quite personal.

We will cover what you need to know on the course itself, so pre-reading is more to give you a taster of where we're going. â€‹

'Yoga Body Buddha Mind’ by Cyndi Lee

This is an easy read but gives you a good idea of yoga as more than just a physical practice.  It’s my favourite yoga book.

‘Science of Yoga' by Ann Swanson

An easy-to-follow, pictorial view of what’s going on in our body when we practise yoga.

‘Breath’ by James Nestor

Breathing makes a big difference to body and mind.  James Nestors book makes this clear, fun and fascinating.

These are easy reads (Ian is happy to offer something more studious if you fancy it), there will be plenty more suggestions as we go through.  Feel free to buy and read them all, or none of them, that would be fine too.  (If you’re an avid reader and plough through these, we're very happy to recommend more).  Don’t worry though, as it will be covered in our weekends together.

Accommodation

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay for your course weekends, let us know, we have some great local yoga friend recommendations we can make.
