Frequently asked questions.

I'm a beginner. Where do I start?

All of our classes (except for Intermediates) are suitable for beginners. Just mention to your teacher before class that you’re new and support and modifications will be given to you.

Can I leave my mat at the studio?

Yes! Find yourself a tube in our wall of mats. Remember your number and place it back in the same tube.

Where can I park my car / bike?

If you're coming by car, Waitrose is only a five minute walk and Jessop Avenue pay and display is right on the doorstep. No parking is permitted within the Bakery.

If you're coming by bike, we have a bike rack to the right of our orange door.

How much do classes cost and do I need to book?

You don’t need to be a member to join us. There’s no regular cost commitment to you, just come as and when you like and “pay as you go”. Classes are £30 for 30 days or a single class is £12.

Yes, you’ll need to pre-book and pay for a place online before you come along, you can book directly from the timetable! Look out for an email receipt from studio@orangeyoga.co.uk with all the details you’ll need for your class.

How do I find my way around?

Through the orange door at the top and the bottom of the stairs you'll find the loos.

In the hub at the top of the stairs behind the front door, you'll find herbal teas to help yourself to, a place to sit and chat and a rack to store your mat.

Studio 1 is behind the orange door at the top of the stairs.

Studios 2 and 3 are off the courtyard.

How do I choose a class?

Classes on the timetable listed as ‘Yoga’ or ‘Gentle yoga’, are a great way to get moving in a more gentle way, they include breathing work, strength and mobility work.

If you’re looking for something a bit stronger than that would be a ‘Vinyasa’ or ‘Forrest Inspired’ class which are more flowing, have more intensity. There are more standing poses, stronger poses, maybe longer holds and they’re a little bit more cardiovascular.

The other option would be to go a step further with an ‘Ashtanga’ class, which is very cardiovascular. You’re definitely going to get sweaty!

Want or need something really restorative? Choose ‘Yin’ or ‘Restorative’ with long, slow stretches, giving your mind and body a complete release.

Iyengar is a great contributor or support to your usual practice. Great for working on precision and alignment and accessible for everyone at every stage of life. A great way to deepen and enhance your yoga practice.

Are there lockers?

There are drawers in each of the studios for you to put your belongings in (remember to silence your phone). No need to bring any change with you - they’re free. There are racks in each studio for your shoes. If you’d like to hang your coat, there are pegs in the Hub.

What are your opening hours?

The studio is run by volunteers. We aim to be open 30 minutes before each class and for around the same after. In between times, if you would like to contact us, our email is studio@orangeyoga.co.uk.

What is the cancellation policy?

Classes can be cancelled up to 1hr in advance via your online account. Workshops will be refunded only if we can find someone to take your place. Obviously we will take account of exceptional circumstances - please contact reception at studio@orangeyoga.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help.
